About Us

We bought a house in “the country” and we’re slowly attempting to turn it into a home. We’re also planting a bunch of things in our field and trying to help them grow. This web site is our attempt to document our progress.

About the Property
The place we’re working on is in a quiet, rural town in the North Quabbin Woods area of Massachusetts, about 60 miles west of Boston. The land consists of 18 rolling acres, of which, 7-8 acres are open field/pasture and the rest is wooded. As of May, 2007 (when we purchased it) the land had a tiny garden, a handful of fruit trees, a couple berry bushes and a lot of potential. As of 2016, we’ve planted 1/2 acre of wine grapes, almost 100 fruit trees (mainly apples), 75  blueberry bushes, and have approximately 1/3 acre under vegetable production.

About our Buildings
The main building on the property is a 1760(est.) farm house with wide pine floors and hand-hewn exposed beams which we’ve been patiently re-building for the past 6 years. Sitting next to the house is a large commercial building that is currently unoccupied. However, for 25 years, it was the site of a wholesale bread baking business. The business was sold about 7 years before we got here. We have some ideas as to what we may do with the building, but that’s a few years away.
